|:. DISCLAIMER: J7 and the folx behind the 777 Update are not affiliated with TDC.Org. Rather, J7 and RolThaDice@AOL.com are part of the Prince online community, and we offered them space on the net to keep us informed of all things Paisley. It has not been edited by the TDC.Org staff in any way, well, except for coding and other small stuff, you know, to make it look nice and pretty for our Motor Babies out there. DISCLAIMER .:|.

And now, the latest 777 Update, dated Monday, October 15, 2001.

"The news, not the bull ...."

Welcome to the latest edition of The Update. The 777 Update is a Prince Fan Newz Update not affiliated with Prince Roger Nelson, Paisley Park, NPG Records, Warner Brothers Records, the NPG Music Club or NPGMusicClub.Com in any way, shape or form. Finally, there is some Major Prince news to report. Ever since the Celebration in June, news has been scarce on the Paisley front. With the release of "The Rainbow Children," available for download & also being released in record stores thru a very good distribution company, there is sure to be more news than in previous months. So let's get on with the show.

Newz item #1-The Rainbow Children downloads Oct 17
Record store release date Nov 20

As the NPGMusicClub promised back in June, "The Rainbow Children" will be released thru the NPGMC. From what The Update has been told, the CD remains unchanged from the version people were able to listen to at the Celebration. As reported first to Prince.Org, a promotional ad was found in Billboard magazine (Oct 20, 2001 issue) produced by Redline Distribution, announcing a record store release date of November 20th, stating, "(t)his recording was intended 2 xperience in it's (sic) entirety."

So, basically expect the download & the CD release to be 1 long track, ala Lovesexy. This not really a commerical release by Prince, and if any singles (besides "The Work, Pt. 1") will be released is yet to be seen. This is Prince's religious statement and can be looked at as The Rainbow Children Project. It will be interesting to see how the public & Prince community reacts to this cd. This is Prince's first official cd since changing his name back to "Prince" and the first full-length cd to feature Prince's name once again on the product. It will be interesting to see if he will set the promotional wheels in motion and do press interviews or any T.V. appearances. The only interview yet to be published that Prince gave earlier this year was to Teen People.

True Irony - The Rainbow Children NPGMC release date of October 17, 2001, marks the 14th year anniversary of the official announcemnt of the disbandment of The Revolution.

Newz item #2-Paisley Park Listening Party Oct 19
More cities to follow?

There is scheduled to be a "Special" Paisley Park listening party for the internet-release of "The Rainbow Children," as was reported by NPGMusicClub.Com on October 8th. There is a possibility (no official confirmation) that the documentary produced by Kevin Smith during the week of the Celebration will be shown. There are talks in development to have "Official NPGMC Listening Parties" for The Rainbow Children in other cities, such as the Launch Parties for the NPGMC back in February and March. Again, these talks are only in discussion right now. Several fan listening parties are being held all over the U.S. and Europe in support of Prince's latest opus.

Newz item #3-Who is willing 2 do the Work? New Band?

In the last Update we could only confirm that Najee left the band. In actuality, he was only on as an "Honorary NPG member." Rhonda Smith reported that she is no longer with the New Power Generation and was only with the band for the duration of the "Hit & Run" tour, which wrapped up in early May. She is now playing in the band on "The Wayne Brady Show" on American television network ABC.

There is no word if Geneva is still the NPG dancer.

Will Larry G. step back up to Bass? Has Prince found another funky Bass player? Will there be more than one Blackshire in the NPG? One thing is for sure, John Blackwell, coverboy for the October 2001 edition of Modern Drummer, is going nowhere! The boy is bad!

Newz item #4- Uptown Issue 49

The new issue of Uptown should be hitting North American record stores by the end of October. Overseas, it should already be in stores that carry it. Inside is an in-depth review of the "High" compact disc project. Also inside is a review of "The Rainbow Children" cd reviewed by, yours truly, J7. Also inside is a brilliant recap by LaserBlast@Aol.com (a k a Kathy Jentz / LovesexyDC) of Celebration 2001, along with pics. There is also another review of The Celebration by J7. Guess that magazine is going to hell now. =-)

In all honesty, I would like to thank the editor of Uptown, Per Nilsen, the opprotunity to even write an article for them. Hopefully, our paths will cross again and can contribute to Uptown in any way I can. I also want to thank everyone who I talked to at The Celebration that helped make up "The Celebration Review" featured in this month's magazine. As I told you at The Celebration, my writings were to appear in a future Update, but I decided to give it to Uptown instead. In all honesty, it was all of you who made that article as good and as detailed as it is and I thank you for that. Much Love.

Newz item #5-So What is the actual Release Date for TRC?
October 17 or November 20?

Most music insiders will most likely think of November 20 as the official release date. According to history, Prince's stronger selling and critically-acclaimed releases are released in October while his weaker sellers (for those that believe in charts) have been released in November. Here are some examples, below, provided by Days of Wild, available for sale thru Uptown :::

October 19, 1979 - release of self titled "Prince
October 08, 1980 - release of Dirty Mind
October 14, 1981 - release of Controversy
October 27, 1982 - release of 1999
October 1983 - most of the tracks making up "Purple Rain" were recorded
October 1987 - Prince begins work on "The Black Album"
October 17, 1988 - "Scandalous" is recorded

October 01, 1991 - release of Diamonds & Pearls

October 13, 1992 - release of CD

November 02, 1990 - Graffiti Bridge movie is released
November 19, 1996 - Emancipation is released
November 09, 1999 - Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic is released

Now it may just be coincidence, but it seems like October is a lot friendler month for Prince than November. Again, the irony remains ::: October 17, 1987, was the official announcement of the disbanding of The Revolution. Fast-forward ::: October 17, 2001, will bring the release of The Raibow Children.

* * * EDITOR'S NOTE * * *
* * * September 11, 2001 * * *

In Prince history, this date (September 11) and this year is the 14th anniversary of the opening of Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Mn. But, in history books, thru the world, this date will now be an important part of history. Two planes killing thousands and bringing down two of the most important American buildings. Talking with people from Europe, France, Germany, and all over the United States and Canada, the shock was felt all over. The NPNY (New Power New York) mailing list was full of anger, sadness and togetherness. The Moderator of NPNY, Derek, tried and succeeded in keeping the peace of the anger and resentment of fellow posters to his list. We are all human beings first, and moderators & editors second.

Never did we think this could happen here? In America? I think it was fairly obvious to anyone who has flown anywhere in the U.S. in the past several years, airport security was more than relaxed. If this tragedy had been prevented, would security have been improved? Why is it that defensive steps are done after something happens and not before? The best offense is always a good defense.

There is no excuse for any of these terrorists attacks. The main thing is that the U.S. and the world should have stepped up before something happened on September 11th. It is too late for that now and we, the world, must take steps that this never happens anywhere - not just in the United States. What Americans would hear about happining in Israel with a suicide bomber blowing himself up in a crowded mall, that seemed like something that could never happen on our soil. Well now, their reality is the reality for the United States.

As for Americans protesting war :: look at what happened on September 11th. Look at the anthrax virus attacks in the U.S., and now in Kenya, that were mailed out BEFORE we even attacked the Taliban in Afghanistan. There is a seven-month-old baby boy infected with the anthrax virus who might die now. The Taliban and al Qaeda do not have respect for human life. Afghanistan may be the hardest place to have a ground attack, ever. American and British troops face the hardest military acts, ever. The loss of any human life is very sad, but do you give in to fear and not fight back?

For Muslims and those that follow Islam who have felt the backlash of this act, it is horrible. For the Americans to take out their anger on the followers of Islam, it is plain wrong and is not the solution. This is not a war of religion. This is a war on terrorism a war on people who do not care for human life.

Again, I just had to get this off of my chest and thank you for understanding. I do not expect you to share my views on this situation. This is truly a time where I beleive in Love4oneanother and I send Love and I pray for you and your family's safety, no matter where you are in this crazy world, no matter if you are my friend or my enemy. I truly hope in the end, we will all stand together. Much Love & Respect to all who value their life and others.

This 777 Update is dedicated to all those who lost their life on September 11th, on all flights and inside the World Trade Center buildings, the Pentagon, the aircraft that crashed in Pennsylvania, the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) and New York Police Department (NYPD) who risked their lives to try and save others, the unsung hereos who helped dig under rubble and those who gave blood and donated money in light of the cause.

Much Love.

J7
