And now, the latest 777 Update, dated Friday, June 27, 2003.

"The news, not the bull ...."

Hello and welcome to another edition of the 777 Update. Since the last Update in February (Prince will no longer use Best Buy-backed Redline Entertainment distribution (folded); Prince has been in the recording studio since mid-January with Sheila E. According to the Jazz Times in France, the new cd will be entitled "Two Thousan Free : The Revelation Year").

Not much has taken place aside from the N. E. W. S. instrumental CD which can be purchased at the NPG Music Club site if your a music club member. Their has also been a tease about the Las Vegas show from December 15th, 2002, being released on DVD. So without boring the heaven out of you, let's just get down to our one and only N. E. W. S. item. . . .

Newz item #1-Prince- Live at the Aladdin Las Vegas
tentative release date : 08/19/2003

The Las Vegas show has a tentative (could change, delayed even more) release date of Tuesday, August 19th. It features the special guests of Nikka Costa, Maceo Parker and Sheila E.

The NPG Music Club has offered 3 sample clips of the DVD on its site -- "Pop Life," "Money Don't Matter 2nite/The Work Pt. 1," and "Push and Pull" with Nikka Costa. Other tracks included in the DVD will be "1 + 1 + 1 = 3," "Strange Relationship," "Everlasting Now," and "Whole Lotta Love," the Led Zepplin cover. There is supposed to be a bonus track on the One Nite Alone DVD concert release.

The DVD was shown at a Paisley Park party earlier in June. The DVD was originally to be distributed with Cherry Lane Music, which said there would be Celebration 2002 footage on the DVD. As of writing, there is NO celebration footage on the DVD. Distribution also fell through with Redline (company went under) for the Xpectation project. It makes sense now since Musictoday.Com will be handling the distribution (internet only) so far of the
N. E. W. S. instrumental CD. The new distributor right now is for the United States only but fans overseas should not have to wait long for the release in their country.

A Paisley Park online rep in the NPG Music Club Chat Room said recently that the footage was edited for the children (?).

Again, the release date is tentative right now, but all signs point to this getting released shortly. I would hope for the entire three-hour show but something tells me don't bank on it. The aftershow was shot as well with several instrumental numbers but none made it onto the Live set.

A side note: the cover of the DVD was shot in early April.

The 777 Update is still around and kicking, just not at the pace it used to be. 4 questions or comments, respond back at RolThaDice@Aol.Com. Much Love 2 u all and I miss u.
