Rather, J7 and RolThaDice@AOL.com are part of the Prince online community, and we offered them space on the net to keep us informed of all things Paisley. It has not been edited by the TDC.Org staff in any way, well, except for coding and other small stuff, you know, to make it look nice and pretty for our Motor Babies out there. DISCLAIMER .:|.

And now, the latest 777 Update, dated Saturday, August 26, 2000.

"The news, not the bull ...."

Hello and welcome to another edition of the 777 Update, a Prince news update which is not afflicated with Paisley park in any way. It has been less then a month since the last 777 Update but this newz is so big, u know we could not wait 4 a month 2 go by without spillin' the beans all over the place. So, let's not waste any more time and get on with the show.

Newz Item #1-Prince Announces Fall Tour

The newz we were waiting for since May finally dropped after Prince took a spiritual trip (reportedly 2 Egypt, which is where he went before he changed his name to way back in 1993). Prince will be starting tour rehearsals September 3rd. Most likely the New Power Generation name will still be used and it is not known who will be in Prince's new band. Most likely the only faces staying are Morris Hayes and Kirk Johnson (Kirky J.). As was reported first in the June edition of the 777 Update, Larry Graham has stepped down as Prince's bass player. It is not because Larry and Prince had a fall-out, it is just that Larry could not keep up with Prince's late hours. Larry will remain close with Prince and may pop up on occasion but not in the forefront. Rhonda Smith is most likely going 2 rejoin the band and take over the bass position.

Newz item #2-The Tour Setlist and Dates

The tour will focus mainly on Prince and the music, sorta like the "Sign 'O' The Times" show, which Prince is wanting this set 2 sorta look like. Tour rehersals may not have even started yet but the man is letting it be known that more than half of the show will just be Prince under the light -- no drummer, no bass player, no percussionist. It will be Prince; the one-man-band playing several different instruments. It will be just the audience and Prince, playing what you want 2 hear. And to make this possible, the stage designer, last name of Crocker is all I got, is trying to make a voting device that will be put randomly into the audience so they can vote on what song they want to hear that night, or better yet, what song they want to hear next. " Yes, hello, this is your D.J. Prince speaking. Care 2 make an instant request?" No joke folks, they may as well call this tour, " Prince: By Request." Also u can bet your moneymaker that acoustic numbers will be played. Keep in mind, he is planning on releasing "The Truth" with bonus tracks as a single cd b4 2002.

The dates have not been announced yet but hit and run gigs will take place starting in late September. Hit and run gigs are usually announced the day of or a day before and the frenzy for tickets is on. Most likely small clubs and arenas will hold place 4 the hit and run gigs. The 777 Update will send out special mini-updates as soon as ticket sales are announced.

Newz item #3-Will Prince Play the MTV Video Music Awards?

As we broke first in July's 777 Update, Prince was asked 2 perform at The MTV Video Music Awards show September 7. We did not know at that time the capacity he would play, meaning if he was going 2 play guitar over someone's song or if he would be a guest performer with another artist, a l a Kid Rock, Aerosmith and Run DMC in 1999. The 777 Update SUGGESTED ONLY that he should do "So Far, So Pleased" with No Doubt if anything at the annual award show. From what we have been told from an MTV employee is that the producers of this year's show are offering Prince 15-20 minutes airtime on the award show to do what he pleases. MTV has suggested that Prince show off his guitar work and during that time he will be given 2 show what an incredible guitarist he is. Now IF he decides 2 perform, we all know Prince will do whatever the heck he wants 'cuz he is a bad-ass. We are just hoping that Prince does accept the MTV invitation, whether most of the time he is at odds with MTV or not. This is perfect promotion for the upcoming tour and the release of "Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic." And yes, y'all, there is a new cd in the can already !!!

Now being the true snoops that we r, we went thru MTV's list of presenters for performers and, so far, although Chris Rock is NOT presenting an award, he is introducing a performer at this time -- which could be switched around by September 7. MTV would not tell us who he is introducing because they said the performer has not agreed yet. Hmmmm ... Now 2 reiterate, MTV asked Prince 2 perform, but from what we have been told, he has not given them an answer. Tune in Thursday night, September 7 to see.

Newz item #4-New Music From Prince

As was reported in previous Updates, a Prince song will appear on the Spike Lee movie, "Bamboozled," starring Damon Wayans. The movie will not be released until October, but in the trailer, a song credited to the New Power Generation is played. "2045: Radical Man" will appear in the movie and on its soundtrack, which the latter has a scheduled release date of September 26. As we reported in July's 777 Update, Prince was working on new songs for an upcoming cd. An early copy does exist and Prince has it. In fact, the video off of the upcoming cd was played at Paisley last night, Friday, August 25th -- "The Daisy Chain" is what the title is called and features the same girl from the "Hot Wit U (Nasty Girl Remix)" video.

We will keep u informed on the upcoming tour dates when they break. Just in case there are no dates announced, keep a watchful eye on MTV september 7 and on Prince.Org 4 any other noteworthy happinings.

L.A. Purpleheadz ... don't think I 4got about y'all. We are trying to get a club gathering happining and now the time is of the essence. So yours truly will be very busy trying to make this happen, either b4 a tour date or the upcoming cd.

Again thanx 4 all the well wishes we have recieved regarding the condition of J7 following the car accident he suffered on July 4th. Much love 2 all and good vibes sent your way.

Any questions about the update or comments, please feel free 2 email us at ROLthaDICE@AOL.Com

Lust u always ... J7
